College Life Thus Far

It's pretty freaking sweet. I love it! Although it does seems like it's just a long summer camp so far, but that's just because I've only been here for a week. My classes are pretty cool...well most of them. I'm really going to love my chemistry and biology classes because the teachers KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! At Western it was really hit-or-miss with teachers so it was hard to get into a subject if the person teaching knew about as much as you did. My calculus teacher is really cool too, she is very good at explaining things and has good handwriting which makes things easy to read.
I don't know where people say all this free time in college comes from though. I've had stuff to do every weekday that we've had classes so far. I am so relieved to finally have the weekend (even though I have to read over 40 pages of material for my classes combined and answer a butt-load of questions by Monday). It's all good though, I don't have cable in my dorm room which, I know, sounds bad, but in fact, it's fantastic! With no cable I don't sit around watching TV wasting precious time that I could be doing my work. Also, with no cable, it forces me to go out and meet new people.
The only real free time I have that I've noticed so far is in the mornings before my classes start. My earliest class on everyday other than Wednesday is 10:15. On Wednesday my earliest class is 11:20. So, being a morning person I have loads of time before hand that I can spend doing what ever I want, like writing in this blog. :]
My roommate is really cool. His name is CB and he's really laid back which I like a lot! He stays over at his girlfriend's house on the weekend and some weekdays so I have the room to myself a good bit which is pretty cool because this room is so small. Honestly, I am living in the smallest room on campus, I know this for a fact...I've seen all the others. Well, not really, but I've seen enough to know that this is the smallest of them all.
Jumping between topics here: I think my teachers are even cooler because they don't require anybody to bring books to class. We don't use them because they know what they are talking about so well they can just teach it without having to look for a reference. My Biology book is so big it would put a dictionary to shame, so I'm ecstatic that I don't have to tote that thing around everywhere. My classes might start later in the day, but they are so bunched up!!! On Wednesday I have four classes in four hours and of course they would all be across campus from each other. I have to speedwalk to get to them on time because I only have fifteen minutes in between to make it on time. When I do get to the class though all of the good seats are normally taken too, which is bad-news-bears for me because I like to be close enough to actually see the professor well. If I can't see him/her when they talk there is no way I will remember it, even if I do write it down. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that, but I'll figure it out. I might just end up leaving my previous class about five minutes early so I can make it to the next class without having to speed there.
The weather here has been HOT! Seriously, upper 90's every day and so humid! The bricks just absorb the heat and send it back off so people are literally cooking when they walk to class. I'll enjoy when the temperatures get back down around 80.
The social aspect of college is phenomenal. All of my friends are just walking distance away which allows for easy hangout time. I love it! Not to mention the girls! So many girls everywhere! It's incredible to say the least. Back in high school there were maybe a hand full of attractive ones, but here, there is a ton!
I've been here for a week and I do not really miss home yet. I'm sure, though, that's just because I have kept in contact with my family though. I do miss them, but managing on my own isn't as difficult as I pictured. College is looking like it's going to be everything I thought and better. I'm so excited!
