So this week has been so relaxed so far. Monday was a holiday and Tuesday was a snow day. First snow of 2009 in Greensboro! Yesterday (Wednesday) was a review day at school so everybody didn't really do much. Today was day one of a three day exam schedule. I had Marine Science exam today with Amweg which was just a project that I did on Sperm Whales. I thought that it would be boring, but I got lucky and actually had an extremely interesting animal. I learned that Sperm Whales can live to be over seventy years old and can dive up to two miles under the water. That's older and deeper than any other whale or dolphin. I also learned why they are named Sperm Whales, and it's not because of what you're thinking. They have a white, milky substance in their head which was mistaken for semen when they were discovered centuries ago, but in fact, it is spermaceti which helps them dive very deep and float very effortlessly. I have to give Amweg credit for creating an interesting way to get a midterm grade. I actually enjoyed my project, even though it wasn't the most fancy, I think I probably learned more than 99% of the class about our animals.
I also had my Honors English 12 midterm with Ms. Reece which was so incredibly easy. I was the first done but instead of turning it in and looking like a total nerd I held on to it until Ms. Reece saw I was finished and took it from me. We watched Family Guy until it was time to leave when I saw a familiar face in the parking lot. Beth had come to see Taylor and I stopped to chat with her. She's still very nice and I still enjoy talking to her. I do wish her the best.
Well tomorrow I have Spanish and Engineering exams so those will be easy. I'll post how I did later.

Lean Forward!
This weekend was the best I've had in a long while. I went to Jessie's lakehouse and snowboarding with Jessie L, Maggie C, Bryan D, and Graham D, with Jessie's parents. It started on Friday, where I was completely distracted from school because we were leaving at 6:00p.m. that night. The school day went by so quickly that I couldn't even describe it if I tried. After school, however, I rushed home and quickly finished packing by dumping my bookbag of all of the books and binders that I despise and filling it with clothes for the next three days and snowboarding clothes. I grabbed the snowboard and boots that my best friend Alex B let me borrow for the weekend and place it with my bag in the den, all set to go. I called some of my friends to tell them goodbye and then just waited for time to tick by. I arrived at Jessie's a few minutes late because I wanted to eat dinner with my dad to have that last little bit of bonding time. If you know me then you know I'm big on bonding time. Once I showed up at Jessie's my luggage was immediately put in the back of the limo-van that we rode in which was one of the coolest vehicles I've ever rode in. It had lights that we could control that looked just like limo lights, and it had T.V.s added with immense room to sit in. After my dad exchanged emergency numbers with Jessie's parents we were off for winter paradise! The seating arrangements were Jessie and Maggie in the middle two seats and Graham, Bryan, and I on the back seat. I sat in the middle which I actually enjoyed because I could see everybody and talk to them all easily. The seats were very comfortable which was nice for the semi-long ride. We passed the time talking of nothing particular and eating Gorp (Trail Mix) which Jessie mistook for onions because she was talking about them which gave everybody a good laugh for awhile. We continued to nag her about that for the duration of the trip. It was a non-stop trip until we got into Boone where we stopped at Appalachian State so that Maggie could borrow her brother's board and some of his gear, which Graham used so he wouldn't have to wear his bibs. After that short stop we drove the rest of the way, also non-stop, into Tennessee and the lakehouse.
The much talked about lakehouse lived up to every expectation I had and more. It was nothing short of miraculously breathtaking. That house was the most gorgeous piece of architecture I've ever stayed in. We went into the garage first and then walked down some stairs into the laundry room. The laundry room was connected to the kitchen which had an island bar in it all with marble counter tops. The kitchen was openly connected with the dining room, which had a table big enough for ten people, and the living room. The living room was gigantique! There was a fire place, two leather chairs, a couch, and a loveseat all surrounding a table with a oil lit candle. The living room had six windows in it that were massive at the smallest point, all which overlooked their dock and the lake. A door could be taken to lead out onto the upper level of the deck which wrapped around the house. Back in the living room, though, the master bed room connected to it along with a half-bath. Stairs leading up to the loft also led to some bed rooms and a full bath. Next to the stairs leading up was a door with stairs leading down to the lower level. The lower level had a living room with a widescreen T.V., a foosball table, and a billiards table which some complete with bar-room style lighting over the top of the table. The play room had a hallway which broke off that lead to a full bath and two bedrooms with three beds a piece in them. You could also take another door from the play room out onto the lower level of the deck. My shoddy verbal tour really doesn't do this beauty justice. It really has to be seen to get the full effect of it.
Upon first arriving all five of us sit at the bar and relax after the long car ride and just chat it up for a few minutes. We then start to play some music through the surround sound speakers in the living room and start having fun and taking pictures. We had a dance party/slide party/tic-tac-toe party all in one. I was actually allowed to pick Ex's and Oh's by Atreyu as the last song to be played which made me happy because nobody really likes that kind of music that were there other than me. After our small party we travelled downstairs and just relaxed for a bit until we went to sleep. Graham had the full size bed, Bryan had the lower twin size, and I had the top bunk. We were supposed to get up at 6:30 and leave around 8:00. Good thing that I was on this trip or else nobody would have woken up in time! The power had gone out in the middle of the night so all of the alarm clocks got reset and were flashing. I woke up at 6:00 like always and just walked around the house for a bit. I ate breakfast and played three games of Solitare until it was 6:30 and then woke up the guys and the went upstairs to wake up the girls. The girls asked to sleep a little later so I went back up there to get them up at 7:00. Everyone got their snow clothes on and we were out the door at 8:30. We first went to a ski rental store so Jessie, Graham, and Bryan could rent boards and everyone could buy lift tickets. After everyone was fit for boots and bindings we went to the slopes.
We scrambled out of the limo-van with our gear half on and finished putting it all on near some trash can then we tracked to the bunny hill. Bryan picked it up very quickly he was quite the natural. Maggie already knew what she was doing and Jessie knew what she was doing but wasn't as good as Maggie or I. Graham, however, had a hard time getting it. He ended up paying for a lesson for an hour which helped him incredibly. During Graham's lesson the other four of us went up the lift to the slopes and started to make our way down. Jessie's binding was constantly having problems which required all of us to help her get it in. It must have been a funny scene to watch us trying to shove her boot in. After everyone was set we started down the mountain. Bryan was good at everything except slowing down or stopping, so he just fell to the ground after zooming past a lot of people. Jessie fell every once in awhile, but Maggie and I didn't fall hardly at all. I did have one huge wipeout though which hurt, but other than that I kept in control very well. After going down the mountain once we decided to go again before Graham's lesson was over. This time Bryan and I went at our own pace. He made it down the fasted and I followed shortly after. Maggie stayed with Jessie and they made it down shortly after me. Graham found me and then we found the girls. We were looking for Bryan for a long time, and in this time some guy came flying down the slope and took me out at the ankles. I fell and hit my butt on the edge of his board hard. I'll admit that it was funny, but extremely painful. I just don't understand how if he knows he's going to go flying into the crowd he doesn't just fall and stop. After that we found Bryan and ate some lunch. The food there was ridiculously expensive. We also had to eat outside due to the fact that there was no room inside in the warmth. Graham was itching to get on the mountain for his first trip on the ski lift so we quickly ate and left again. Since there were five of us, Jessie had to ride the lift with a stranger. She said the girl she rode with was nice, but wierd. Graham rode with me and I could tell he was so excited and nervous at the same time. When it came time to get off the lift I just told him to try not to fall and if he does to move out of the way quickly. We get off of the lift and he falls and then gets back up and falls again into the trees which was hilarious. We are all up at the top trying to get Jessie's boot in her binding again and then we take off. Graham fell about every six feet or so but he was having a blast. We all went down together this time and took more pictures. Once we got down to the bottom the lift line was much too long to wait in so we decided to walk back up the slopes to the top. We were marching and realized how bad of an idea this was. The boots made it hard to walk since ankle movement was out of the question and the boards seemed so much heavier after carrying them for about ten minutes. Graham stopped about half way up and the rest of us kept on. We finally made it to the top and strapped in and started going down. Maggie and I decided to cut onto the yellow slope (more difficult than the green we were on) at an opening half way down and that was a lot of fun because there was much more space and it was easier to pick up speed. At the bottom we just sat there and talked for a long time because neither of us wanted to move since we had just walked all that distance. Everyone meeted back in the lodge and we just waited for Jessie's parents to come pick us up then.
That night we ate at a convenience store/restaurant that was owned and operated by some nice old people. The food was delicious and it was fun to just goof off with everyone. After we got back to the house everyone was just tuckered out and we went to sleep after watching the first half of the UNC vs. Miami (FL) game which UNC went on to win convincingly.
The next morning I woke up around 6:30 and ate breakfast and Maggie actually got up around 7:00 and came and talked to me and Mrs. Lowe in the kitchen. The others didn't wake for awhile and we had to get Bryan up for breakfast. I had two breakfasts that morning: Captain Krunch and pancakes. Everyone packed up and loaded our stuff in the limo-van and then we started the journey back home. This time Graham and Jessie sat in the middle two seats and Bryan, Maggie, and I sat on the back seat. I still sat in the middle. We watched Spiderman (the best superhero) on the way back home. It was snowing outside of the car during our trip back which was a nice ending I thought. We reached Jessie's house in a timely fashion and then our parents came and picked us up one by one, with the exception of Maggie who walked home. Everyone had the most amazing and dandy time and I think I speak for us all when I say that we want to go back again. It really was marvelously wonderful.

Call It a Fight Club!
It has been awhile since I last posted so bare with me as I have a lot to say. This past weekend was atrocious in every sports aspect imaginable. The Carolina Panthers lost their first home game of the season in the playoffs against the Arizona Cardinals. Jake Delhomme sucked a lot of penis that game with one fumble and five interceptions, which tied the all-time playoff record for most interceptions thrown in a game. The Panthers have people to catch the ball, people to run the ball, and a very good defense. All they are missing is someone to throw the ball! Critics say Jake is an excellent fit because he "fits into the system." I guess they think fitting in is just throwing the ball really high in the air and let the probowl receiver go get it while being protected by a probowl offensive line. They need a decision maker! The cliche, "Better luck next year," fits in this statement as well as Jake does to the Panther's team. Now that they are out of the playoffs I just get to pick a random team to cheer for and I think I'm going with the Baltimore Ravens on the only grounds that Ray Lewis is a beast.
The most depressing thing of the weekend, however, was the UNC loss to Wake Forest in college basketball 89-92. UNC shot their worst percentage (36%) from the field all season. Everyone says that UNC can't hold their own against decent teams, but I say they just have poor decision making skills at the moment. Deon Thompson likes to take jump shots for some reason even though he is terrible at them. He needs to just sit on the block and lay the ball in the basket. Hansbrough is not being as aggressive as he usually is for what ever reason. We just need to get our heads on straight and play basketball. I still strongly believe we are the best team in the nation by far. I believe if you put us in any game against any team, with both teams playing their best, we will come out on top hands down. It is just a matter if Coach Roy Williams can get the team focused on winning as a team and not what ever they are thinking. Danny Green has the most sense on the team at the current state. He knows what he can do and how well he can do it. Shooting 55% for the season as three point shooter is not by coincidence on his part. Our next game is against Virginia, which is expected to be a blowout, but then again, so what Boston College. I am expecting a blowout still, due to the fact that Roy is pissed! He knows what this team is capable of and excepts nothing less. After this game I was way to upset to even think of sleep so I called and talked to Diana and pretty much just told her exactly how the game made me feel. I went to lay down around 11:30 at night, but did not actually fall asleep for about an hour after that because my heart was beating so fast because of the intense rage filled in me. I was fortunate that people did not mention it at school too much because of NFL playoffs.
I am still without hot water! It has been exactly a week now. Showers last all of one minute for me now. I'm a short-shower professional. Our water bill has to be about three dollars at most this month! Cold water is really starting to irritate me, because the people that are supposed to fix it are complete morons. I have to shave tomorrow morning with cold water. It is going to be terrible, because my face is going to feel like ice!
This post wasn't as long as I expected, but that's ok. Nothing really exciting as been happening, but that should change with the weekend! I'll write again soon.

Awkward? Hello Turtle
School has started back up again from the Winter Break. I enjoy seeing all of my friends everyday again, but I'm rather against the work load. The night before the return day of school UNC lost their conference opener to Boston College in a huge upset. Even though people say, "It's just a basketball game," it was much, much more to me. I began to fill with an awkward mix of rage, pity, disbelief, and sadness. This new found emotion was further agitated by the fact that everybody who doesn't even care was texting and calling me just to make fun of my team. I was seriously about to snap my phone into two pieces and burn them in their own two respects. The part that made me the most mad is that many of these people don't even follow college basketball. They talk about the score, sure, but they never know anything more in depth than that. What is even worse than those people are the band-wagon UNC fans that come to school and cheer for UNC when they win like they care, but when they lose they say things like, "I don't really care about basketball," or something along those lines. People like that are people I can not stand. I don't see how someone can falsely stand for something like that. I guess it's just a pet peeve of mine.
In other news: my water heater was broken when I woke up this morning, so I had to take an ice cold shower. The water was so cold that it was making the air around it cold; almost in an air-conditioning effect, but less efficient. Due to that unfortunate event I took a less than three minute shower. I am normally the one who takes super hot showers. Showers so hot that it is almost skin melting.
I'm not sure what is up with teachers this first week back from Christmas Holiday, but somehow they have decided to actually attempt to give work out. I say, "No way Jose!" to that shenanigans. We got new seats in Coach Wilson's class and Ms. Amweg's class as well today. My seat in Wilson's class isn't as good as it was, but I sit next to Mary W now and Allie L is right next to her, so that gives me two awesome people to chat with during that class. Nobody sits behind me and I can't even remember who sits in front of me to be honest. In Amweg's class, however, my seat makes me want to bang my head against the wall repeatedly. My old seat was the best, because I sat with three of my friends, but not I sit with none. I barely know the people I sit around. I can solely blame Ms. Amweg as well because she put us in alphabetical order. Are we six? Assigned seats is terrible enough, but you can't even spice it up a little? The first day of getting new seats is actually very exciting for me because of the anticipation. It's like playing the lottery: you could win big, but you will most likely lose. Sitting alphabetically just ruins all of the surprise. Another thing about school before I leave this topic for the night. . .What is up with getting Interim Reports signed counting for a grade? That's the biggest piece of bullshit I've ever heard. I was under the extremely false impression that school was supposed to be about intelligence. Foolish of me really, because school has never been about raw intellect, but merely work ethic. I have not turned in any Interims to Amweg and have missed two vocabulary assignments and that takes ten points off of my grade. Dropping me from a 92 to an 82. All I have to say is, "Please come swiftly college," where there will be a meaning to all assignments, no busy work, and no dumb interims.
So I talked to my father about going on a ski trip with the gang over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and he seems like he could possibly go for it. I hope so because it would be so much fun! I need some snow in my winter. I have never been skiing before, but I have been snowboarding and that was incredibly fun and enjoyable. I am sure skiing will be the same. I will also get to see the legendary Lakehouse that everyone seems to only come away with good memories from. Just thinking about it makes me even more excited.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I'm going to Kevin P's youth group for his church with him. It is publically known that I am an Atheist, but he has invited me to go anyway which is nice of him I thought. I'm excited to go and meet new people. Even though I do not agree with religion I am very tolerable normally so I don't forsee any problems. I don't think I'll tell them I'm an Atheist, however, due to the simple fact that, for some reason, it is nearly impossible for people to stomach that I have made such a socially unexceptable decision so early in my life. Many people also think that it is impossible for someone, like myself, to have a good moral foundation and do what's right just because it's the good thing to do without a religious background. My outlook on life is simple: I do what I want and trust myself to make the right decisions, without holding myself to a set rule book. It's been working good so far.
Well that's all for this critic tonight.

Holiday Happenings
This Christmas break has been incredibly awesome. I've had something to do just about every day. My friends are amazing and I love just hanging out with them. The day before New Years Eve I went to see The Spirit with Andrew G and it was really good I thought. It was over the top in its comedy, but since it was obviously put together that way it was a great movie. All of the actors and actresses in it played their role superbly. The funniest moment of the night, however, was when we were walking into the theatre. There was a very young boy, I'd say about five years old, walking with his mother who looked to be about late twenties. They were arguing as they came into ear-shot and I heard the boy say, "No mommy! Don't hit me again!" as the mother retorted, "Hush up or I'll beat you right here!" The child then stops walking and breaks into some serious crying action saying, "No, No, No! Put me in Timeout!" The mom replies, "Timeout doesn't work for you anyone, which is why I have to spank you." The child screams as he begs, "PLEASE! It will work this time I promise! It will! It will!" The mother then grabs his arm and throws him into the car and they drive off. (Sorry for the pitiful grammar with the quotes, but I'm trying to save space.) Now I'm not that child's parent, but if I was I would probably put him in Timeout if he was asking for it, because if he got in trouble again I would have all the reason I need to spank him. Either way, Andrew G and I were rolling in laughter all the way to the door. That's the kind of stuff that people always make fun of, but never get to see in real life. After the movie Andrew and I hung out at my house until about midnight until he went home.
On New Years Eve my day was jam-packed full of things to do. I talked to Saadi and asked him if I should wear a tie for the day. He said yes, so I did and it was actually pretty fun. First, I went to play poker with the regular crew of Matt L, Chris H, Alex B, Andrew G, Andrew S, and Saadi A. I ended up losing badly, but I should not have lost the last hand I went all in in to Chris. He got so lucky. So, after losing I went to practice my Ping Pong skills on Matt's table with Alex B. After a few games of that Alex and I left a little early because he had things to do. We then go to his house and he shows me his remodelled basement which is spectacular! He has a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom, and an entertainment room in his basement now! When I walked in the first thought in my head was, "Hello Man-Cave." After hanging out we picked up Andrew G and called Kabutos to try to make reservations but they were booked up until 9:30 at night. Why do that many people want to eat there on New Years Eve? Anyhow, we then drove to Outback Steakhouse on Battleground Ave. We were seated instantly there. This Outback, compared to the other one, is full of DUFFs. (D.U.F.F. : Designated Ugly Fat Friend) The other Outback has all attractive waitresses. Our waitress, although not very attractive, had cool hair. Her name was Kelly and she had a band-aid on her thumb from a cardboard cut. For some reason I like to talk to my waitresses some. Andrew and I ordered a seven ounce fillet, while Alex ordered some ribs. All of the food was extremely delicious as always. We tipped our $14 tip in all ones. So it looked like we tipped her a lot more. After eating we went to my house just to stop by for less than a minute for me to brush my teeth before leaving for Graham D's house.
Graham's was where I celebrated the New Year. I was accompanied by Mike, Maggie, Paul, Laura, Mikhyla, Jessie, Jarrett, Graham, Brian, Kenny, Austin, Noel, and Jake, who I met for the first time, but is really cool. When I first arrived Graham was playing Call of Duty, although a fun game by yourself, was not fun for everyone else there. Not to mention, no offense Graham, he wasn't very good. He was pulling about a 1:5 kill:death ratio. When I play I normally pull 3:1 or 4:1 consistently. Although, I give him the benefit of the doubt since it was his brother's game and not his. So after that, we switched to Rock Band and that was more fun since other people could play. After Rock Band they played the Wii. Everyone was just sitting around chatting and having a good time. As 2009 rolled in we went outside and lit some fireworks. After the fireworks everyone started to slowly leave. It was a very fun night. 2009 is the most important year of my life. High school graduation and college admission. It's going to be exciting I can tell.
On New Years Day I bummed it the whole day in my pajamas until about 7:30 when I had to get ready to go hang out at Jessie's house. I was especially eager to show off my new-found ping pong skills. Almost everyone from the previous night was there, with the exceptions of Austin, Noel, Jake, and Jarrett. Everyone started playing Ping Pong first and I sucked in the beginning. As the night went on I did improve winning more games than losing. One win was against Maggie 20-22, the closest of the night. At Jessie's we just relaxed on her astounding couch and watched the Orange Bowl. We played Twister, which I enjoyed because Twister is one of my all-time favorite games. At some points is was more of trying to see who could body the other person off of the mat. Some of us went to Cook Out to get some late night food. We played Sex in the car on the way there and back and just about everyone lost, or was one piece away from losing. After returning everyone just chilled and talked until Graham was nice enough to give me a ride home around 12:30.
This winter break has been my favorite of any I've ever had in my life. I can say it's definitly the people that make the break and not what you do during the break. Some people I wish I could have seen more of would have to be Alexis, Tyler, and Morgan. Morgan is in Miami though so good for her. I'm not too sure about Tyler and Alexis though, but I hope they had as much fun as the rest of us. The people that surround you are what makes life worth living, not what you do, or hwo you do it. I'm happy to be surrounded by the best friends I could ask for.
