Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year. Everyone is in such a good mood most of the time and so much is going on that I love to find out about. I enjoy hearing my friends stories of their holiday adventures and sharing my own to complement theirs. This year was no different. The celebrations started on Christmas Eve for me when I went over to Mike L's house for his family's party. I greatly enjoyed myself. I got to see his family again and meet some of his family friends. It was a good time to just sit and chill with Mike and Jarrett and catch up pretty much. I did feel kind of bad because I had ate lunch right before I went over there with my sister at Kabutos which was awesome. Fillet and scallops is what I'm favoring now when ever I dine there. Since I had eaten lunch I didn't eat too much at the party, which made me feel bad because there was so much food. All of which I did tried was delicious. My favorite was the meatballs that they had made. After that ended I went home and had some quality bonding time with my father. Our Christmas Eve dinner, althought unconventional, consisted of stir-fry stuff that was awesome! I went to sleep early because I was ready for it to be Christmas morning, which is a two for one for me: it's Christmas AND morning time!
On Christmas I woke up at around 5:30 due to the fact that I went to sleep so early, so I had to just lay in my bed until around 7:30, which is when I said I'd wake my dad up. The reason I stayed in bed is because every year we always go in on Christmas morning as a family; and even though this year was just me and my father I wasn't going to break tradition for anything. It is the little things that do make my days wonderful afterall. When the time finally came around for me to wake up my dad we had to wait for my sister to get over to the house before we could open presents. So, my dad and I watched CNN news on Christmas morning at 7:30 . . . how cool are we? Kristina finally arrived at the house around 9:00 because she didn't even wake up until 8:30-ish which made me upset, I'll admit, because she said she'd be over first thing in the morning. I was just upset that I forgot my definition of first thing in the morning and other people's definition of the word is different. Now that she was there we could open presents. I got some cool stuff! I got a really cool jacket, a band T-shirt I wanted, a video game, some money, a Hot Topic gift card, and some new cards for poker nights. After opening our gifts my family just relaxed and watched some Ice Age: The Meltdown on TV.
Christmas in my life is a two-part affair. I spend the morning with one parent, and the afternoon and evening with another. Obviously, since I woke up at my father's, I had to go to my mother's during the day. The whole reason it was planned like this was so I could eat Christmas dinner at my mom's house. She called me and asked if I wanted to do it this way so she could cook. Naturally I said of course, because who doesn't love good food? Well I get out there around 12:30 and sure enough my mom is already intoxicated beyond reasoning. This did piss me off immensely. She was so drunk that she was incapable of cooking anything. So, like a lot of nights when I go out there, I don't get any dinner. My is passed out most of the time starting around 3:00 in the afternoon on any given day I go out there, only waking up to have a cigarette. I just can not understand why she gets upset when I don't come out there. She always thinks I'm not spending time with her, but when ever I do go out there she just gets insanely drunk to the point where I just say, "Fuck this," and go into my room because I would rather be alone than be with her in that state. Don't get me wrong, I love my mother very much, but I do not love her in that state of mind. I feel anger, pity, depression, and embarrassment all at the same time. Later that night I went over to my neighbor and good friend's house. That family is amazing. Quintin, Carly, Carmen, and Russel really are good people. Russel actually was nice enough to give me some food to eat. Carly and I were just hanging out and her friend Kristina (not my sister) came over and we just relaxed and watched some TV until I realized how late it was and had to reluctantly go back home.
In the morning my mother was fine and everything was right in the world. She was upset when I left this afternoon because I only stayed for one night, but I can't stand being out in Madison for much longer than that anymore. It's not that I don't like Madison, it's just the family disfunction that keeps me at bay. Everytime I go out there, however, I do allow myself to believe that things have changed which only leads to disappointment everytime. Maybe one day things will change and I will be able to have an in-depth conversation with my mother after 3:00p.m.
Merry day-late Christmas.

Act Swiftly Awesome Packyderm
Not too much has happened in the past two days. Yesterday Josh came over and we watched Horton Hears A Who which was hilarious. It truly was one of the funnier movies of the year. I found myself being lost in its simple fun that gets away from us as we mature. After the movie was over Josh, my dad, and I all went to Salsarita's for dinner because Josh had a coupon for it. I had never eaten there, but I recommend it strongly to people who like Tex-Mex food. It's a lot of like Moe's Southwest Grill except with a little more variety on the menu. I ordered a Steak Burrito as did my father. Josh ordered some enchiladas; all of which were delicious (I tried them all). After our meal Josh went home and so did my dad and I. Once home I just relaxed and enjoyed some music until I went to bed around midnight.
Today was more of the same. I watched The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson which wasn't that bad. The story wasn't very deep, but how could it really be. The plot is that Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson's characters are diagnosed with cancer and both have about six months to live. They make a list of all the things they want to do before they die and they go do them. What really stuck out to me was the exceptional jobs Freeman and Nicholson do with their characters. Morgan as a grandfather who is struggling in his marriage of sixty-six years and Jack as a lonely, angry billionaire seeking a connection. The movie does come with a heart felt ending that does make you value the meaning of life a little more.
After the movie I was trying to get a little human interaction going with a pathetic outcome. I called up Chelsea to see if she wanted to hang out but it turns out she was having a bad day and didn't want to do anything. So I tried to text Maggie to chat with her on the phone but she was in West Virginia on her way to Chicago so she couldn't really talk. Inbetween these my mother did call me and told me that it would be better if I spent Christmas Eve at my dad's house so I could have Christmas dinner out there with her. This suited me quite well as now I am able to attend Mike L's family Christmas Eve party they have every year. I'm excited to go and mingle.
After all of this I called Alex to talk to him in Georgia and he was just as bored as myself. We chatted for about half an hour or so before I went to take a shower. After the shower I took an hour long nap. When I woke up my dad had food from Steak and Shake and we watched The Day the Earth Stood Still. It was ok, but we watched it via bootleg so the quality was horendous.
Kristina, my sister, was supposed to come eat dinner with us tonight, but I guess she forgot. It kind of makes me sad, I'll admit, that I try to stay in touch with her and do things, but it doesn't seem like the effort is always there on her part. I mean, I'm sure she is trying her best but it is always me that calls her; never the other way around. I just don't want to be one of those adults that sees his family only on some holidays.

Alone Time
So after having a very busy Saturday, my Sunday was the exact opposite. Nothing happened all day! My phone didn't make a single noise until about 10:30 at night. I must admit that it was quite boring, but I was able to keep myself busy. I watched movies and just played some video games to pass the time, while watching the football games too. I watched The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor which, I can say, was atrocious at best. The acting was terrible and the action sequences would have been nice if they had not stuffed them full of poor sex puns. All they were missing was a "That's what she said..." joke to top it all off. The movie overall made me want to gouge my eyes out with rusty spoons. There was little to no exposition to the story. It was almost as if they expected the audience to somehow know everything that was happening with no background knowledge. I can safely say I will never watch that movie again in my lifetime.
After watching that poor movie I decided to watch The Dark Knight, which as most people know: is one of the best movies of the year. For those few that have not yet seen it I can tell you it's amazingly fantastic. Heath Ledger was phenomenal. He really carried that movie to the heights that it reached. His character of The Joker was played to perfection with no faults. I really think it's safe to say Christian Bale, who played the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne, is not a superior actor; as shown from the first Batman movie. The movie overall impresses with it's technical savvy and just how creepy The Joker's character is. Again, I cannot express the acting superiority of Heath Ledger in this movie. It's really a shame that he died, because I think he could have been the best actor of my generation if he had kept up like this.
After watching two totally opposite movies, I watched the football games. Panthers lost in overtime which made me sad. I was hoping they would win out this season. Hopefully they win in the playoffs and make it to the Superbowl.

Busy, Busy, Busy!
Wow, Saturday was pretty jam-packed with things to do. Most of which I was not expecting. My first day of Winter Break started off normal. Normal means that I lay around in my pajamas until about noon doing nothing particularly important. It was a normal day until I talked to my friend James who said that I was getting my hair cut today, even though I had no clue, around 2:00. Then, I called my dad to see if I could get a ride to the shop to get it cut and he says we have to go buy my mother's Christmas gift today too after we get my hair cut. The most exciting news though was that I was hosting a poker game at my house at 4:00 where people would be coming over. So, I had to get my hair cut downtown at 2:00, then ride to Target, which was a positive nightmare, to pick up my mom's gift, which was some glasses cause hers were almost all broken, and then make it back to my house to set up for poker at 4:00. Those two hours were pretty crazy.
On a side note, I received The Big Envelope from NC State with all of my admissions information in it. There is some pretty cool stuff in there. It contains my student e-mail account and a bumper sticker! I'll probably put the sticker somewhere that is not on a car.
My hair cut looks exceptional even though it is a bit shorter than normal. I really love James' mom cause she always does a fantastic job and never charges me anything. I paid her this time though because it's Christmas and I just felt bad. I almost started scrapping with her to get her to take the money though. She really is a good person and I am always delighted to chat with her.
Going to Target to get my mother's gift was ridiculous due to the insane amount of last minute shoppers there, like myself. Parking was dangerous at the least with so many people walking around. Inside the store looked like a circus, because there were so many people everywhere. I had never seen so many workers on duty at the same time in that place. Every register was open and people were all over the floor attempting to sell you things that you didn't even want. My dad and I made a bee-line to where we needed to go, picked out what we wanted to get, and got out of there quicker than I had expected. We arrived home with about thirty minutes to spare until I was expecting the guys.
I quickly cleaned off the table and set up the necessary chairs. The players for that night were Saadi, Matt, Chris, Gomez, Andrew S, David, and I. Everyone was pretty much on time, except Matt and Chris, but they were only a few minutes late. The cash game was a five dollar buy-in with the option to rebuy-in if you chose. The game opened as usual with my aggressive play putting me in a huge lead, where I quickly won my original five dollars back and still had a huge chip lead. Ultimately though, my quick bidding and desire to play almost every hand lead me to lose my chips. I was happy breaking even though and chose to not buy back in to the game. Before I went out though Saadi lost his original five dollars in the first few hands (mostly to me), and David lost his first five very quickly too. As the game progressed Andrew S jumped to a massive lead at about the half way point but then folded on many hands to slowly bleed chips. David had a lot of chips at one point, but since he had to buy in so much he was never truely ahead. Matt, however, was very slowly getting chips. He had a few good hands in a row and one some big pots. Chris lost very slowly and didn't have too much excitement in his game. Gomez, who will admit he is the most unlucky person alive, couldn't have asked for worse hands. He was just trying to break even at the end and I believe he did. When we finished around 8:00 Matt and Andrew S had dominated the table.
It was very fun and I love playing. Alex couldn't make it though because he was driving to Georgia. It was nice to see Andrew S again and talk to David since I hadn't seen Andrew S since Sophomore year or talked to David since Junior year at lunch. Next time we play I plan to be aggressive in the beginning then play extremely slow to ensure my lasting in the game. It won't be as much fun as my normal strategy, but I'm hoping it will lead me to a bigger outcome other than just breaking even.

Maggie's Day
So I must admit: Friday was incredibly exciting and fun. So many things were happening that just made it spectacular. First off, it was the last day before Christmas Break so all the teachers were just relaxed and didn't do anything. I even learned how to play Craps in my stats class because we are covering probability right now. To be honest, however, the most amazing factor of this incredible day was that it was my dear friend Maggie's 18th birthday! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY again.) So, due to that huge component of the day, I couldn't wait for the school day to end to get the evening started by everyone meeting at Natty Greens to eat.
Kenny was kind enough to give me a lift to the restaurant in his "metal death trap" as he calls it. We made great time by hitting almost every green light. When we got there I was ecstatic to see everyone there. The people there were Maggie, Mike, Jarrett, Paul, Laura, Morgan, Amy, Jessie, Tyler, Bryan, Jackson, Alexis, and of course Kenny and I. I was however disappointed that Mikhyla couldn't show due to the fact that she had her wisdom teeth removed and was probably out of it big time from the drugs. I was also disappointed that Graham was going to Texas so he couldn't show, and that Clare had to babysit so her and Austin were no-shows. We didn't let that dampen our fun though. All the girls looked very pretty and all of the guys looked really sharp. At first we were sitting outside with some intense wind which made it kind of cold, but when we got our tables (yes, two tables because the restaurant was too small to make a big one for all of us) we were in some kind of corner that we had to make a maze when ever someone wanted to get out to use the bathroom or anything. Speaking of bathroom: Jackson walked in on a Hispanic man taking a poo which was rediculously funny. The preformance (used as a noun and not an adjective [inside joke]) of the waitress was subpar at best. Morgan didn't get her drink for like fifteen minutes after we did and our food came out so much slower than the other table's. Which led me to believe that the waitress didn't put our order in as soon as she took it. That crazy lady charged us 18% for a 15% job. Everyone put in some money to pay for Maggie's dinner cause she was the birthday girl (or woman now?). After dinner we decided to walk to the park downtown with the Christmas tree.
The walk was much, much, much longer than I had expected it to be. Tyler pointed out a fact that there is like a 10:1 ratio of guys to girls downtown. We hardly saw any women, but we saw atleast thirty men. At the park we were having a blast taking tons of pictures. Maggie was even more excited, I think, because she got to use her new camera that her parents got her. Taking pictures and playing around was so much fun. We even got some lady to take a pic of all of us in front of the huge tree. Alexis, somehow, was not sinking into the ground even though she had on heels. The fountain there was really cool. It would shoot out water in patterns and made for and excellent picture backdrop due to the light that reflected off of the water when it shot up. After we had our fix of pictures and fun there we decided that it was time to go to Maggie's. We had to walk so far again to get back to our cars. I don't see why we didn't just drive, but then again, I didn't know how far away the park was. The walk back, however, seemed to go faster for some reason.
On our way to Maggie's house Kenny and I were following who we thought was Alexis. So we were riding her bumper to see if she had a dent on it that we would recognize. We could see what we thought was the dent and passed her really fast and scared the hell out of her. At Maggie's house I walk in the door and Jackson and Tyler are both there but Maggie isn't even though she left much earlier than the rest of us. Jackson and Tyler, apparently, had just walked in with only Maggie's brother there which probably freaked him out. After everyone arrived we the Birthday Girl started to open her presents from all of us. She seemed to enjoy them all; but who doesn't enjoy presents? I would have to say I though Jessie's gift was the best, which was a collage of pictures with Maggie and Jessie in them. Some going back to sophomore year I believe. That was really nice of Jessie to do. After gifts everyone just kind of relaxed while we watched American Gladiators. That is a very wierd show. People slowly started leaving around 11:30 and Kenny and I left around 12:15 and we were the 2nd to last car to leave.
Overall the night was exciting and I hope that it was special for Maggie. I do wish the best for your new adult life.

Hump Day
From the time I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be one of those days best described as Wednesday. The days that are just bland. I was fooled though because I had a pretty interesting dream that had magic bathtubs and basketball in middle school gyms in it. I could go into detail but I won't bore you with the specifics. When I was fixing my cereal this morning I lost the cap to the milk. I literally set it down for two seconds to pour some in my breakfast and I lose it in that time. Dad wasn't too pleased with me for that one. I was pleased to come to the realization that it was a late-start day at school so I had an extra thirty minutes to relax with my friends in the Morning Cliq. I enjoy the Morning Cliq so much more than people would think. It is my favorite time of the day (morning) with some of the most relaxed people I know that I can just sit back and have casual conversation with.
After the first bell rang I walked up to tell my friend Maggie about my dream last night, because she was in it. She wanted me to get out of the magic tub because she wanted her turn in it. No way was I going to get out though because the water never turned cold; which is why it was magic. Instead of telling her my story though I decided I just wanted to sit down and think about my day ahead of me.
The day continued by the norm and didn't have too much spice in it. For open lunch my lunch group went to Chinese Kitchen at Quaker Village. It was scrumptious I will say. I like the food that place serves. We were late getting back to school, like always, but Coach Wilson didn't mind too much when me and J.P. came in late again. He probably didn't mind as much as he would have cause I flexed my brain muscle by completing his 100 question test in under thirty minutes. A test he expected us to take forty-five minutes to an hour to complete.
At the end of the day I went to Chess Club with a lot of my friends. I was surprised at the turn out because all of the people that only go sometime all showed up on the same day. We must have had atleast twenty people in there. I often call the club Nerd Club just to poke fun at myself but I truely do enjoy it and the people in it. I mostly don't try when I play games though. I find myself consistently engaging in conversation with the opponent across from me instead of focusing on the game at hand. Thus leading to losses more times than there should be. It doesn't phase me too greatly, though, because I never think more than one move ahead anyway.
After chess I went home and have just been relaxing ever since. I'm looking forward to this weekend though because Maggie's birthday is Friday! I have a gift for her that I hope she likes. I'm excited for the end of the week as well because we get out of school Friday as well for Winter Break. Hopefully the Thursday will go by fast so I can start to live up my last Winter Break as a high schooler.

Chelsea's Poem
This is the poem I wrote for English class about my long time friend Chelsea. It had to have a sonnet's rhyme scheme. Let me know what you think!
CHELSEA
When people look around they see you first.
Your height, I will admit, is quite tall.
And whether you think it's for better or worse
It's obviously a help for volleyball.
Your looks are really the ones that please.
You really always look oh so great.
You dress so well, but never to tease.
How amazing you look is never the debate.
All of this, however, is only skin deep.
Words can not describe how wonderful you really are.
Funny, honest, and outgoing are traits you keep.
My favorite, although, is when you sing in your car.
You really love to go visit the Wolfpack.
But I find myself just waiting for you to come back.

First Post
This is my first experience with a blogging website, but I'm very excited to try it out. I'm not sure how often I will keep up with this but I will try to update it very habitually. I guess I will start talking about my day.
First, when I arrived at school I saw a lot of my friends dressed up to go to a DECA club competition. It made me jealous because I love dressing up all fancy-like. It makes me feel rich and powerful. I was excited for them to do well though, even though I would miss them in my classes. I fervently dislike my first period Spanish II class. It is terribly boring and the teacher, although nice to look at, isn't very interesting. She actually graduated a year after my sister, so she is very young still and it is her first year teaching. Her name is Ms. Furr and although she is a good-hearted person, she just doesn't know how to spice up the class.
Contradictory to my first period I positively LOVE my second period Engineering class. Mr. Mitchell is a pro teacher and has on-the-job experience of the subject he teaches as well as multiple years of teaching experience. He really knows how to connect with students and get them to do their best work. Not to mention he mixes the perfect blend of intense work and relaxation time playing Hacky Sack or just playing games on the P.C.
My third period is as exciting as it could be being AP Statistics. Our teacher Mr. Steffon used to be a big time soccer coach at the University of Oregon or something like that; So he has a lot of life experiences that are interesting. He looks like Bill Muray from Ghost Busters in my opinion, which some people agree and some don't.
My fourth period is probably the most suspenseful time of the day. It's always a mystery as to what will happen in there. It's Marketing, which is a CP class, so that means that it is the easiest level of class. I'll admit, I did take that class as a Senior Itis class. I was surprised though to find out that many people that I've known for very long were in it. Today was not as good though because two of my closest friends in there, JP and Spencer#2, were at the DECA competition. Coach Wilson, our teacher, pretty much gives us only busy work although people rarely do it. I do have a lot of respect of Wilson though because I know he takes his job very seriously yet he does not try to rule the class with an iron fist. I admire how he acknowledges the intelligent people in the class with good grades and lets them kind of relax during times when the class takes notes and such.
My fifth period is Marine Science with Ms. Amweg. I had her my freshman year and totally hated her. I felt as if she failed me on purpose for the first semester, but that's a whole different story. Now, four years later, I can tell she isn't the same as she used to be. She is still an awkward character that takes some getting used to. She treats us more like adults than before, but still has some growing to do in student relationships. I give her the benefit of the doubt that she is trying her best and I greet her every day and try my best to not give her a hard time. I'm lucky in that class because I have many of my friends in there and can hold a conversation with almost anybody in there. I'm not sure how she feels about me now, but I think she is treating me how I treat her: with distant respect. What I mean by that is we don't really bother eachother but we acknowledge that the other is doing what they are supposed to.
Sixth period is quite the haj-paj of individuals. It is my English 12 class taught by Ms. Reece. She is married but chose not to take her husbands name and has yet to reveal why and I'm not even sure she wears a ring. She has the cutest personality of any teacher I've ever come in contact with. She actually teaches Freshmen for three periods of the day and comes to teach Seniors for the last two. She dresses in a fun fasion with a light-hearted attitude. She is one of my favorites. I enjoy her class because she always comes up with assignments that aren't too much work, but give the right amount of instruction so that I'm able to easily pass. I also am rather fond of the fact that she understands my intellectual superiority of the class subjects and doesn't pressure me too much when I'm late in turning stuff in. I do oh so much enjoy the people of that class. We have some of the most interesting and funny people in there. Eric M, Chris C, Chris F, and Nathan P are all hilarious. I also have a ton of my friends in there like Alex B, Chelsea S, and Abbey E to go along with those mentioned before. I actually had to write a poem about Chelsea for an assignment the other day which was really good and I'll post it after this.
As it is obvious to see I am a rather observant individual with a bit to say. I know this post was long but I wanted to get the background story out so I don't have to explain things as I post later.
